Premiminary Alternatives:
- After the project needs were identified, we looked at ways to meet those needs. We explored a number of initial improvement concepts, such as one-way pairs, mini-bypasses of villages, a four-lane widening with median barrier, and other locations for a new highway.
- These initial ideas were either determined to be unfeasible or evolved into the alternatives you see presented here.
- A wide range of preliminary alternatives then developed with sensitivity to the natural and built environment. These alternatives would either improve the existing roadway or build a new one.
- Some of these preliminary alternatives will be dismissed and others will be studied in more detail.
- The preliminary alternatives and an assessment of their impacts are the focus of this online preview and the public meeting on March 26.
- Based on the results of analysis and your input, we will narrow the range of alternatives to be studied further.
- Of course, the No-Build (or Do Nothing) Alternative is always an option.

Typical Construction Costs:
Construction estimates have not yet been determined. It is too soon to be able to develop accurate costs since alternatives will go through significant changes in the months ahead.
These are general costs for the type of facilities, which could be built to solve the US 30 traffic problem
