Existing Traffic Volumes

Average Annual Daily Traffic

  • US 30, between PA 896 and PA 41, carries 21,800 to 26,200 vehicles per day.





Seasonal Peak Traffic

  • Traffic increases 80-85% during peak seasons and weekends (nearly 32,000 vehicles per day at western end of the project area).





Future (2030) Traffic Volumes

Traffic growth rates were determined for specific roadway segments. To project future traffic volumes, an average annual growth rate of 1.7% was used.

Estimated No Build Volumes

  • Traffic volumes in 2030 are expected to increase nearly 70% from 1999 traffic volumes.





Initial Estimates - Five Lane Widening Alternative

  • Additional traffic will be attracted to the roadway.

  • Traffic being carried by US 30 in the future can be expected to double.




Initial Estimates – Typical Relocation Alternative

  • New roadway can be expected to carry the bulk of traffic (including heavy trucks) Traffic on old Lincoln Highway will be dramatically reduced.
