February 20, 2002 Public Meeting

The first Public Meeting concerning the recently resumed Route 30 Corridor Improvement Study was held on February 20, 2002 at the Pequea Valley High School in Kinzers, PA. The meeting was an Open House from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. which allowed those who attended to visit the displays at their leisure. Nearly 250 people signed in, including spouses and children. The meeting focused on the recently completed project needs analysis which details travel characteristics within the corridor and examines the need for transportation improvements. The meeting gave the public an opportunity to see the most up-to-date study findings, talk with members of the study team, and express their views and concerns about the community resources and transportation needs in this area.

In accordance with Section 106 of the National Preservation Act of 1966, there was an opportunity to review and comment on potential historic resources in the area.

In an ongoing effort to involve children in the development of transportation improvements for U.S. Route 30, children and students were also invited to attend the public meeting. Students had the opportunity to become a "Roads Scholar", by answering questions about project needs. Several children participated and, upon completion, received a certificate and prizes.
