Five Lane Widening Alternative
  • This widening alternative will add two additional travel lanes to US 30, one in each direction. The preliminary design has sought to minimize impacts where possible by widening to one side of existing U.S. 30 or the other, rather than simply widening from the centerline of the existing roadway.

  • If selected for detailed study, our focus will be on reducing the width of improvements, where possible, to reduce impacts.

Transportation System Management Alternative (TSM)

  • We are currently considering improvements to the seven major intersections within the US 30 corridor. These improvements include adding signals to some intersections and changing signal timing and lane assignments to facilitate better traffic flow. An example would be changes to better coordinate the timing of the PA 772 and PA 41 signals. This alternative would include only minor physical improvements that would add additional capacity, such as a turning lane, to these intersections. Additionally, enhancements to transit service (bus and rail) are included in this alternative.
